I find very few artists that truly impress me these days. Music has turned into more publicity than anything else. Bands in the 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s used to use their talent as their sales pitch. Now you have acts like Lady Gaga or The Black Eyed Peas who have to do things completely different than their predecessors ever have. It’s no more about talent but who you know and how much you are willing to put up with uncomfortable scenarios in the music industry.
I’ve been playing music for 10+ years now and found this out myself as I got better and better at creating, writing, and playing music. You might ask where am I going with this?, well not a lot of bands these days catch my attention because I pay more attention to talent rather than antics.
The Parlor Mob is a rock band founded in New Jersey in 2004. The band consists of singer Mark Melicia, guitarists David Rosen and Paul Ritchie, drummer Sam Bey and bassist Anthony Chick. These gentlemen bring classic rock roots to alternative rock standards and blend some hard rock/jam band styling’s in as well with their sound. I was pleasantly surprised after hearing their latest album titled “Dogs” released on Roadrunner Records.
The song that caught my attention first was their single titled “Into the Sun.” The driven kick drum and bass at the beginning of the track just sets the tone for the album. Hearing it gave me instant chills especially when the chorus of the song hit. I give the album 5/5 stars.
My only note is that if you choose to listen to the new album please, please, please turn it up loud!
